Jelly Bean Character Writing

复活节快乐!
Happy Easter!

In honor of spring and the holiday at hand, here is a fun way for students of any age to practice characters. Make sure to buy plenty of jelly beans, since even the most diligent jelly bean writers have butterfingers.

My adorable youngest students, sisters 罗丽丽 Luó Lìlì and 罗紫兰 Luó Zǐlán, write out their Chinese names.
我叫罗丽丽。Wǒ jiào Luó Lìlì. My name is Luó Lìlì.

Students can craft any words they happen to be learning, but simple characters like numbers work best for legibility and activity momentum.

The duo poses proudly with their numbers 1-10. Sweet success.

I used saran wrap to turn the table into their very own writing board dessert plate. Patent forthcoming.

Hope you enjoy! Please check back for more unique ideas on Chinese learning in the future 🙂
